A look at the life of the pioneering nurse and heroine of the Crimean War who not only suffered from the restrictions placed on women at the time, but was also hindered in her nursing career by the colour of her skin.

• Improvising and sequencing the main events in Mary’s life
• Role-playing to understand why Mary made the choices that she did
• Discussing the reasons why Mary Seacole is remembered today
